Famous Mum & Daughter Duo
Classic Run Series Ambassadors
The world’s most famous mum and daughter running duo join the Classic Run Series
The Classic Run Series team are delighted to announce that the legendary distance runner Liz McColgan-Nuttall and her Euro 5,000m medallist daughter Eilish have joined the series as event ambassadors.
Eilish is pictured below at the launch of the series today at Aintree
Liz McColgan is one of the all-time greats of British sport and women’s distance running. After winning gold for Scotland in the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games and Olympic silver in 1988 she went onto to win 10,000 metres gold in the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan. Liz is also a former winner of both the London and New York marathons. She now coaches young athletes in Doha, Qatar.
Liz says “I’m thrilled to be joining the Classic Run team as an event ambassador. It’s a wonderful series of new and innovative 10km runs and also an opportunity for all the family to join in with the 5km, junior and family events”
“I’ll be at Aintree on September 8th and looking to join in with the thousands of other runners at the world famous venue”
Liz will also be joining us to provide a four month training plan to get your best out of the 10km event. Watch this space for further information.
Liz is joined by her daughter Eilish as a Classic Run Series ambassador. Eilish is one of the new stars of athletics in the UK. She has had a very successful year in 2018 which culminated in her winning sliver in the 5,000m at the European Championships in Berlin.
Eilish will be taking part in both the Cheltenham Classic 10km Run on September 1st and also dashing down the Rowley mile at the Newmarket Classic 10km on October 20th.
Eilish says “ This is a brilliant idea to get all the family involved in a new series of runs at exciting new venues. I’m looking forward to taking part in both the Cheltenham and Newmarket events. Given that there are three events in the series I’m sure lots of club runners will be attracted to this new concept also”
